![]() Certainly there are very few games that manage to strike a chord like this, and Recompile’s aesthetic make-up is definitely worthy of fascination. It’s an almost romantic endeavor of isolation, and poetry in motion with every step. ![]() Specifically, Recompile is a wonderfully lonely game.Įverywhere feels vacuous and unknown, and evokes this sense that you’re wandering around aimlessly, even when you somehow find the way. Musical motifs mark every significant location, and deepen the sentiment that Recompile seems to hit so poignantly. Recompile is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X (including Game Pass) and PC (Steam) on August 19, 2021.As you make your way over sharp terrain, and through alluring ominous lights, Recompiles ambient score makes everything feel alive. Intense and intelligent combat with a host of deadly NPCs and boss battles.A range of futuristic weapons and super-powered abilities.Multiple endings depending on play style. An eclectic, adaptive soundtrack, bringing a polished and seamless cinematic experience to the game.A variety of hackable, exploitable enemies and intense, challenging boss fights.A sprawling world filled with secrets, puzzles and other obstacles with tens of interconnected locations and distinct biomes.Three difficulty levels: storytelling, default and hardcore.Single player dynamic narrative based on play style, leading to multiple endings to extend the replayability further.Even enemies can be tampered with to turn against each other. Logic gates can be freely inverted, overidden or disabled entirely, completely changing circuit outputs and system behaviours. Hacking will NOT be an immersion breaking minigame or puzzle designed to block progression with artificial difficulty. In Recompile, the act of hacking is pervasive throughout the entire game's design and is a means to change how entities behave.Even the game's diegetic music is emitted from in-world speakers connected to the Mainframe network. ![]() ![]() Nothing is hardcoded, everything is systemic and all can be freely exploited by the player.
